Top 5 Safest Places to visit in Mexico

Locals in sombreros and ponchos, delicious but spicy traditional food, lots of tequila, huge prickly cacti, and charming mariachi musicians - these are the first associations when you mention Mexico. However, this is only one side of the coin, and the other is illegal drugs, natural disasters, high crime rates, and poisonous insects.

For this reason, before embarking on a long-awaited trip to Mexico, you need to prepare: learn how to get a Mexico Tourist Card, what documents you need to take with you, where to go in case of problems, and what places in Mexico are considered the safest.

First Things First

The loss of a visa or passport can lead to a fine, filling out a heap of papers, loss of time, hassle, and ruined rest, so the documents must also be left in the safe, having previously made copies of them that you can carry with you and are not afraid to lose.

If you failed to avoid troubles, and you were left without money and valuable documents, then contact the embassy of your country in Mexico.

In addition, emergency phone numbers may be useful to you:

- A universal number of emergency call services - 066
- Police - 080
- Ambulance - 065
- Fire department - 068
- Information on emergencies - 060.

Apply for Visa

If you have a multi-Schengen, USA, Great Britain, or Japan visa, then you do not need a Mexico Visa. In other cases, you can issue a free electronic entry permit - Mexico Tourist Card.

Check Your Documents

When entering Mexico, you must present your passport with a Mexico Travel Visa or Mexico Tourist Card. The validity of the passport must be at least 6 months from the end of the trip.
The Tourist Card is valid for a single entry within 30 days from the date of issue. That is, as soon as the tourist receives an electronic permit, there are 30 days to enter Mexico. The period of stay in Mexico is no more than 180 days.

Mexico City

Mexico's safest metropolis, Mexico City, has had its security problems in the past. However, over the past 15 years, it has cleared its reputation significantly. With the introduction of new security measures, many of the city's most dangerous areas are now tourist attractions and ready to welcome you. You should definitely explore Piazza Garibaldi, La Lagunilla Market, and several districts of Centro Histórico.

San Miguel de Allende

This is one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, known for its rich cultural life and pleasant climate never ceases to attract not only tourists but also those who want to stay here forever.
Its special character lies in its reputation as a popular residence for artists, writers, poets, sculptors, and other representatives of the creative profession. The small town is known for its colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and a special bohemian atmosphere.

Puebla

Puebla de Zaragoza or simply Puebla is a large city in Mexico, 110 km southeast of Mexico City. Various architectural styles such as Baroque, Classical, and Renaissance are represented here in over 5,000 buildings. The historic city center is filled with magnificent churches, monasteries, and colonial-style mansions, whose façades are adorned with Talavera ceramic tiles, typical of the region.

Tulum

Known as the only fortified Mayan village located on the coast, the ancient city of Tulum is one of the most visited attractions of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Today, Hollywood actors, top models, business representatives come to Tulum - all those who are tired of luxury and increased attention. At the resort, they are looking for solitude and silence, although recently Tulum is rapidly approaching the glory of Ibiza.

Huatulco

In the Mexican Huatulco is the "most Spanish" port in the Pacific Ocean. Previously, it was a dull village with no water or electricity. An ambitious project to transform it into the most modern resort in Mexico was based on the idea of combining beautiful nature and hotel pathos.
Now Huatulco is a club-type resort when most tourists spend a lot of time in hotels. For independent travelers, this place is not suitable - the cost of living in local hotels is much more expensive than in other resorts in Mexico.
