Kaspersky research found that only half of industrial organizations believe that IoT will change ICS security

The digitization of industrial infrastructure is underway and 55% of companies are convinced that the Internet of Things will be one of their key aspects to change the security status of industrial control systems. According to the latest Kaspersky report, 20% of companies have prioritized IoT incidents, but effective solutions for IoT threats are not yet widely available.

Industrial companies continue to implement digitization and Industry 4.0 standards. Despite the market weakening after the COVID-19 pandemic, digitization is advancing. At the same time, the growing number of digitization projects such as industrial IoT raises awareness of the associated risks.

For one in five companies, attacks on the Industrial Internet of Things have already become one of their top cybersecurity concerns, preventing serious threats such as data breaches or supply chain attacks. Increasingly, security professionals, not just IT teams, must be involved to answer them. In 2020, IT security staff will work on initiatives to protect digitized OT systems in nearly half of the companies surveyed.
