Problem:
External plasters often develop cracks due to attack of various agencies which forms a major source of leakage and leads to eventual deterioration of the structure due to corrosion and other added parameters.
The remedial solution often is to open these cracks in a V-groove and fill the crack with a conventional crack filling putty. It has often come to notice that this solution merely provides a cosmetic face lift as far as leveling of the external surface is concerned and also destroys the aesthetic appearance of the structure. These filled cracks after some period of time again crack and provides passage for rain water.
Also during the process of opening of the crack in a V-groove it was invariably noticed that the adjoining good plaster was disturbed and partially de-bonded.

Expert Solution:
The need arose to develop a novel crack filling material which will not only provide a water tight surface over the crack but will also maintain its dimensional stability on drying and ease in application. The procedure should not involve opening of the crack in a V-groove and the material should posses auto suction property such that it should get sucked inside the crack and adjoining porosity in the plaster after being applied on the surface.
